Final All-Day Race coming up this weekend 02/22/2012
A lot of fun was had this past Saturday. Many a parent realized that their kids can ski fast!! - And of course we still have a few fast parents in the ranks....but the kids are closing in! This Sunday coming up we have our final race before the Wellborn Cup. The schedule for Sunday is as follows: 9:30 - Course inspection on North Tournament for Slalom 10:00 - Slalom racing begins 1 hour after the conclusion of slalom, we will have GS inspection 30 minutes later GS will start Right after the conclusion of the GS the Awards banquet will be held in the Camelot Room, please bring a side dish or dessert to pass. 1 hour after the conclusion of GS we will have awards, and announce the Wellborn Cup team. As we mentioned, The fun race is coming up this Saturday at 6pm, course inspection will be at 5:30pm. this is a great time for mothers to challenge sons, brothers to challenge sisters, and dads to challenge daughters. And then after the race, we will have pizza and pop in the civic center while watching awesome ski videos - all for only $3.00! Oh, and don't forget the raffle! Everyone that pays gets one ticket (more can be purchased) we have lots of cool prizes. If you didn't sign-up today at the race, or send us an e-mail earlier, please do so now. What an awesome day of racing we had today! Got all runs in under a glorious sun! But now its raining, hopefully it stops soon, what a shame of mother nature to ruin all that great snow, BOOHOO! I know the kids are disappointed about missing their spelling tests and math reviews and science worksheets and history lectures, but there is no school and the snow is awesome!!! At my house we have about 11" of fresh powder and climbing. That can only mean one thing.....AWESOME SKIING! So when the roads clear, hit the slopes and have a blast. If you can't make it out during the day, this is just a reminder that Ski Academy will still be training at Boyne Highlands tonight at 6:30pm. See you out there! This Sunday's race is at the Mountain. Don't forget the race course has moved over to North Boyne. This hill is to the North of the high speed 6-pack, so allow yourself a little more time to get to the hill. What a great day of racing we had yesterday! Race results are now posted! There are a few races this year that we are looking for post race snacks, (like we did last year). The season's first race is Sunday (1/15). We will be running GS on North Tournament at Boyne Highlands. Races start at 2:30pm and the course is open for inspection at 2:00pm. If you are new to the academy and unsure of where to go, coaches will be at the big tree by the cafeteria at 1:45 to take racers to the course. After the race awards will be in the cafeteria. After the race we will also have sign-up sheets for post race treats for the rest of the year, please consider helping with this, we will be looking for 10-15 families to help out for each race. Coaches please meet at the bottom of the race course after the race for a quick meeting. FYI On the information page, we posted the agenda for the annual meeting for 1/15/12. The season is under way, and the first race is Sunday the 8th. This is just a practice race, and medals and points will not be awarded. All racers 8 and under, as well as new racers should report to the top of the NASTAR course (on Leprechaun), all others should report to the regular race hill on North Tournament. Both races start at 2:30pm, coaches will be at the big tree in front of the cafeteria to meet racers at 1:45pm if you are unsure of where to go. Happy New Year! 12/31/2011
Well, we can put 2011 behind us because now its time to get geared up for the 2012 season. The weather is turning and fingers crossed, natural snow is on the way; although Boyne has been doing a great job of making snow to make up for the lack of natural stuff. NMSA Training gets underway this coming Wednesday (1/4/12) at the Mountain and Thursday (1/5/12) at the Highlands. Both nights we will be hosting a parent meeting at 6:45pm while the kids are out on the hill; near the Ski School Desk at the Mountain and in the Cafeteria at the Highlands. We ask that all parents try to attend one of these meetings to get information on this year's programs, expectations, goals and schedules.
